The ICASA 2025 Ghana report focuses on Africa’s latest advancements in HIV/AIDS research, treatment, and prevention, while also addressing integrated responses to TB, Malaria, Hepatitis, emerging viral diseases, and health system resilience. The report underscores the importance of domestic financing, local manufacturing, community-led systems, and digital innovation to achieve the goal of ending AIDS by 2030 and strengthening health sovereignty across Africa.

Bridging the gap between research and policy remains a persistent challenge. Many researchers, especially PhD students, early-career scientists, and regional project teams, still face practical difficulties in translating their findings into meaningful impact.

Sub-Saharan Africa continues to face a high burden of poverty-related diseases (PRDs) such as malaria, TB, HIV, and neglected tropical diseases. Despite notable progress, emerging and re-emerging diseases such as COVID-19, Ebola, and Dengue further strain regional health systems. In response to these challenges, the Eastern Africa Consortium for Clinical Research (EACCR3) is committed to building sustainable research capacity to conduct high-quality research and clinical trials in the region.
