Please see the outline of the workshop below.

Dates: November 5, 2024

Aims of the workshop include:

·      To develop participants' storytelling skills with a specific focus on writing narratives suitable for publication to wider audiences

·      Provide practical exercises enabling researchers/scientists to apply storytelling techniques directly to their research narratives.

·      Foster networking opportunities with media professionals, journalists, and science communicators to establish ongoing relationships for future collaborations.

Venue: Royal Tulip Canaan, Kilimani, Nairobi

Training content: This training will focus on the fundamentals of storytelling, features and case reports of a good story, how scientists can effectively engage with the media, how to transform your research into stories for different audiences, and how to use various narrative techniques to talk about your research in a new way. It will also include a hands-on, creative session to apply skills learned to develop a good story for media publication.

Participants will cover their own travel and accommodation. Registration is free.
