COVID-19 Uganda Update 05-05-2020
Eight (8) new COVID-19 cases were confirmed today the 4th of May 2020. 6 out of 2,061 samples of truck drivers while 2 cases are from the community confirmed from the Rapid Assessment Survey. 5 truck drivers arrived via Malaba border post while 1 arrived via Mutukula point of entry. Also, there was 1 community case, a resident of Kyotera District while the other is a Ugandan truck driver from Mutukula. Total COVID-19 confirmed cases: 97. Total samples tested today: 2,246
The International Health Regulations (IHR) requires that every case that is tested and confirmed for a particular disease should be registered as the host country’s case. Therefore, Uganda will capture all COVID-19 foreigners as her confirmed cases, bringing the total to 97 cases for Uganda.
On a good note, 3 patients recovered from COVID-19. These tested negative twice for the disease at an interval of 24 hours and were discharged from Entebbe Grade B Hospital, on the afternoon of 04/05/2020. The total number of COVID-19 recoveries in Uganda is now at 55. Uganda has NOT registered any COVID-19 related death to date.
Remember to wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Also, continue to follow WHO guidelines on social distancing, keep at least 4 meters from the individual nearest to you.
