Vanderbilt University Runs Grant Writing Workshop in Entebbe

On July 10–11, a prestigious grant writing workshop was hosted by EACCR at the K Hotel in Entebbe. The primary goal of this two-day workshop was to provide researchers and professionals with the essential skills and strategies needed to secure project funding successfully. The opening remarks were made by Dr Bernard Kikaire who gave an informative introductory session about the work done under the EACCR network.

The workshop featured renowned facilitator Professor Roy Zent, who delivered an informative session on grant and manuscript writing. He was supported by Dr. Annet Kirabo also from Vanderbilt University. Throughout the event, carefully chosen participants, including researchers from reputable organizations such as the Uganda Virus Research Institute, TASO, MRC Uganda, MUSPH, MUJHU, and Vanderbilt University, were allotted 10 minutes each to present their research proposals.

Throughout the workshop, attendees delved into key areas, including understanding grant opportunities, proposal development, the grant review process, and effective communication. This comprehensive coverage allowed participants to gain insights and practical knowledge in these crucial aspects of grant writing.

The workshop offered an array of benefits, including hands-on experience through practical exercises, expert guidance from seasoned grant writers and reviewers, and networking opportunities for connecting with peers and potential collaborators.

With a focus on the significance of a well-crafted research hypothesis, the workshop proved to be instrumental in enhancing participants' grant writing skills and bolstering their prospects of securing funding for their respective projects.
