The Public Health Laboratory Ivo de Carneri (PHL-IdC) (http://www.phlidc.org), in Pemba, Zanzibar,United Republic of Tanzania, has been a WHO Collaborating Centre for neglected tropical diseases(NTDs) since 2005. It operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Health, Zanzibar.PHL-IdC’s activities include assisting relevant health programmes to implement disease controlstrategies, undertaking operational research and strengthening capacities of health staff. It alsoprovides the local population with routine services for selected laboratory tests.
The East African Consortium for Clinical Research (EACCR) in collaboration with the University of Lausanne, Switzerland and Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is offering training opportunities to promising East African Scientist interested in building career in clinical trial capacities in the area of vaccinology.
EXIT-TB project held a two-day workshop (December 17-18) on data management at the Panama Garden Hotel, Moshi, Tanzania. The training involved participants from the participating institutions; NIMR-Muhimbili and KCRI Tanzania, IDI and MLI Uganda, AAU Ethiopia, IEND Sudan, and KEMRI Kenya.
