COVID-19 Uganda Update 22-04-2020

One (1) new case was confirmed for COVID-19 out of the 1,019 samples tested at UVRI. This confirmed new COVID-19 case is a 32-year-old Kenyan truck driver who arrived from Kenya at Malaba border. Total number of confirmed cases of covid-19 stands at 61 in Uganda.

The International Health Regulations (IHR) requires that every case that is tested and confirmed for a particular disease should be registered as the host country’s case. Therefore, Uganda will capture all COVID-19 foreigners including truck drivers as her confirmed cases, bringing the total to 61 cases for Uganda. There are 38 covid-19 recoveries in Uganda.

For the Covid -19 confirmed cases in East and Central Africa,  Uganda - 61, Tanzania - 254, South Sudan - 4, Rwanda - 150, Kenya - 296, Ethiopia - 114, DR Congo - 350 and Burundi 11

Remember to wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Also, continue to follow WHO guidelines on social distancing, keep at least 4 meters from the individual nearest to you.
