  • COVID-19 Uganda Update

    One (1) new case was confirmed in Uganda for COVID-19 out of the 1,114 samples tested at the Uganda Virus Research Instiute. This confirmed new COVID-19 case is a 27-year-old Kenyan truck driver who arrived in Uganda through the Malaba border. Efforts are underway to track him and evacuate him back to Kenya.

  • COVID-19 Uganda Update

    Today, 439 COVID-19 relaed samples  have been tested at the Uganda Virus Research Institute and all of them tested negative for COVID. Uganda still has 53 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as o the press release from the Ministry of Health Uganda.

  • EDCTP 2020 calls for proposals

    EDCTP has published seven 2020 calls for proposals to support clinical research on poverty-related diseases, including neglected infectious diseases, and research capacity development in sub-Saharan Africa. The calls represent an investment of more than €80 million.
    The first call to open is the Mobilisation of funding for COVID-19 research in sub-Saharan Africa. The emergency funding initiative which is open to applications from 03 April and closes on 17 April 2020, is part of the European response to the COVID-19 emergency.

  • EAC Secretariat to deploy mobile laboratories and testing kits and to all Partner States in a bid to mitigate Coronavirus

    The East African Community Secretariat as discussed  on 23rd March 2020 in Arusha, is to deploy mobile laboratories and Coronavirus test kits to all EAC Partner States.

  • EACCR2 Steering Committee Meeting at KEMRI-Wellcome Trust in Kilifi, Kenya

    Members of the Eastern Africa Consortium for Clinical Research (EACCR2) steering committee meet at the Kenya Medical Research Institute, KEMRI-Wellcome Trust ahead of the Annual Scientific meeting on 6th and 7th November 2019.

    The two day meeting will discuss progress and challenges of clinical research studies as well as ways to strengthen research capacity in the Eastern African region.
