COVID-19 Uganda Update 29-04-2020

Two (2) new cases were confirmed for COVID-19 IN Uganda out of the 2,002 samples tested today at the UVRI. Both cases are male; 24-year-old Ugandan and 21-year-old Burundian refugee. They are under quarantine at Rakai Hospital as they are contacts to an earlier confirmed Burundian refugee case. The total number of confirmed cases of covid-19 stands at 18 in Uganda. Of the 2,002 samples tested, 1,703 samples are from truck drivers at boarder posts while all 299 samples from community tested negative for covid-19.

The International Health Regulations (IHR) requires that every case that is tested and confirmed for a particular disease should be registered as the host country’s case. Therefore, Uganda will capture all COVID-19 foreigners as her confirmed cases, bringing the total to 81 cases for Uganda.

Total covid-19 recoveries in Uganda is 52.

Remember to wash your hands regularly and thoroughly with an alcohol-based hand rub or wash them with soap and water. Also, continue to follow WHO guidelines on social distancing, keep at least 4 meters from the individual nearest to you.
