Kenya reports 17 new COVID-19 deaths bringing the fatality to 1,409

Kenya’s Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr Mercy Mwangangi has confirmed the deaths and also revealed that 727 people have tested positive for the virus, from a sample size of 4,913 tested in the last 24 hours, bringing to 78,512 the number of confirmed positive cases in the country. The cumulative tests are now 848,016. From the cases 705 are Kenyans while 22 are foreigners.

Dr Mwangangi adds that 806 patients have recovered from the disease, 701 from the Home-Based Care Program, while 105 have been discharged from various hospitals. The total recoveries now stand at 52,709.

A total of 1,196 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 7,139 are on Home Based Isolation and Care. 51 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 29 of whom are on ventilatory support, and 18 on supplemental oxygen.
